“You Are My Strength on My Weakest Days”
When Shannon and Jason Perrone welcomed their beautiful baby daughter, Isabella, into the world on December 2, 2005, they did so with all of the joy and wonder that a precious new life brings. Buoyed by the beauty of the Christmas season with its tidings of peace on earth and spirit of goodwill, this beautiful young couple—with all of the talent and promise in the world—lovingly embraced their new role as parents, no doubt deliciously savoring the anticipated joys of raising their precious Bella. The next line should be, and they lived happily ever after; however, neither Shannon nor Jason could have known then how drastically their lives would change—not because of the myriad adjustments that a new baby requires, or the autism diagnosis that would come years later—but because of something that few young people ever have to confront.
